Maple Shadow Frame

The laundry lady or laundress is something I paint over and over. I wish I could explain exactly why, but she is so incredibly comfortable for me to paint that when I am woking on her, it is like a super long relaxing yoga class. Something I have never been able to do very successfully is simply relax and let the years of painting just do their thing and with her and my other idealized settings paintings, it is as good as that gets. Brain balm.
