Shell Pink Shadow Frame

One of the things I did this summer was work from some memories of growing up and some paintings from photo’s and others are invented. This is an invented memory of the swim club in Louisiana we went to the most often, but no one specific one, a mix of many from my memories. Using a greatly exaggerated color and minimalistic approach, I was going for a time in my memory. The car we had was a Buick Estate Wagon and to this day getting in that car on a hot summer day is one of my clearest memories. The plastic car seats would smell a certain burnt way and the windows rolled down not with a crank but an electric toggle, so to open the windows you had to wait for the car to be turned on. As soon as it was you rolled them down and as soon as the AC kicked in you rolled them up quick! When I paint these works, I remember things I have long since maybe not forgotten, but had no reason to actually think about. It is fun. The painting is a snapshot in time to me of a place that was more simple, in a time when the seat bottom burning the back of your legs was about as concerning a thought as the day would offer!

Before the painting was finished I photographed it to show the size. Make sure and look at the actual painting for accurate color, etc.

I have framed several of my works in colorful frames that seem to tie in with the subject matter to me, but I can always change the frame for a simple maple shadow frame.
