Shell Pink Shadow Frame

One of the things I did this summer was work from some old photos of my family. this is a picture of my sister and I, at Easter, in matching dresses in my Grandmother’s backyard. But it really isn’t. It is two sisters, and then it is a symphony of coloristic approach where I have exaggerated nearly every color, and saturated the colors to compensate for the memory and the photo that are washed out with age. What drew me to paint this scene was the very gift of the composition being handed to me via this old photo. It also lets me take a while in that place and in that time period.

I have framed several of my works in colorful frames that seem to tie in with the subject matter to me, but I can always change the frame for a simple maples shadow frame.
