I painted a whole series of scenes from Nimrod Hall from vintage pictures. This one is of the pond and the campers. This painting is from the old camp pictures from about 1937 but I can't be sure. There are a lot of these old camp photos and I love looking at them and seeing the way the pond looked back then. Since buying Nimrod we were determined to have the pond be a place to swim again and put a lot of effort into it and I am happy to say we played in the pond all last summer. It is spring fed and freezing but for the first time I understand what Frankie has been telling me the past 20 years about how the pond is where the cool kids swam when she was growing up, and the river was sort of for kids who didn't swim great and the small little kids. Now, I get it.
