I painted a whole series of scenes from Nimrod Hall from vintage pictures from about 1910. These paintings were done the summer before we bought Nimrod and I was a little bit obsessed with everything old about Nimrod in my unrelenting panic at the idea of actually owning the great old place. Although Nimrod has been a part of my life for all these years, it gave me a lot of comfort to look through Elsie's photo album for some reason. That is hard to explain to be sure, but she was a very happy person in photographs in a time period when most photo's were grim and very posed and I needed someone to feel happy about this idea I was contemplating. She was a cool chick back when I think they weren't all that common. All of the old photo picture paintings from Nimrod were from her album.
