I did a whole series of flower paintings in the past year! I love a good powerful flower. This is one of my first ones I did in this series and I love it. The pinks are must brighter in person of course! There is so much texture in this painting that might not come across in a photo. I am a self described colorist but I also really care about how the paint looks on the canvas itself. The solid feel of the neutral base contrasted with the energetic brushwork of the flowers themselves and he background, too, is what makes this piece work.
