Maple Shadow Frame

These are loosely based on zinnias in the garden at Nimrod Hall. Plopped in one of my favorite vessels for flowers, a mason jar, with a hint of turquoise. Zinnisa, if you have never planted them, are all but glowing when they are out in the sun and quite frankly are complicated flowers. So I just simplify them and throw all the color at them I can and enjoy myself. This painting has thrown my iPhone photo for a loop, it is just so vivid the phone makes it look flat. It isn’t. But it is not meek, either, so just be warned! I love good hot color and have been using Gapka Oils to get this look. Now all the other flowers without using it look sad.

The background on this panting is navy- not black.
