This painting is an unapologetic ode to the vintage. I did not set out to do that, by the way, but it is obvious to me now. It has that 1950’s color palette of turquoise, black and bright whites and the simplicity of the flowers and almost graphic approach just scream MCM to me. I also have a love for the midcentury aesthetic so that does make sense. Of course I am overthinking it now and it is giving me 1930’s vibes. And that is what makes art so intriguing to me. I painted it and still am not entirely sure what the motivation was and how it looks to myself, much less anyone else!
