Vintage Vase and Flowers in Glass
Vintage Vase and Flowers in Glass
24 x 30
Oil on LInen
Maple Shadow Frame
This is an original oil painting
This painting was inspired by a McCoy vase I have that is one of my favorite things. It is a pale green of the long ago pre 50’s movement. More of a 30’s or 40’s shade. I rarely am a fern painter and I am not sure these are technically ferns but they seemed to need to be in this vase and then of course, I just did whatever I wanted. I have been really exercising my artist license with the flowers here lately and hope I can retain the freedom with them. Flowers are hard as hell to paint if you are a botanist or someone who is trying to replicate a flower in that photorealistic way. If you aren’t though? it is pure joy. Get a fat blob of reds and pinks, and yellows, and oranges and do what you will!
I am not sure Mother Nature did not put flowers on this planet to help us artists out. Certainly helps me.
