My husband flies small planes and now helicopters. I have never been such a fan of flying since I tend to think it might be a little dangerous... but he loves it so I am getting really used to it! This is one of a series I painted over the summer. We went to see where our daughter was going to go to college, right in the middle of the summer and I was immersed in painting while at Nimrod Hall when you literally start seeing everything as a potential painting. I was enchanted by the patterns and grids that the farmland of Virginia makes from the air and was inspired to paint it immediately when we returned back to Bath County. The paintings are not meant to be exact replicas of any location but an abstract take on what Virginia showed my eyes from the sky.
