Maple Shadow Frame

This is an Original Oil Painting

I always seem to go back to the beach in a more minimal approach with the white dress, the dogs ( negative space) and the parallel bands of the sea. It is a closet abstract to paint these paintings. Not because they need to be, but while I enjoy the narrative that the woman and her all offers, the approach for me is in the paint. In person there is a lot pallet knife in in the foreground and then blended paint in the skirt and my point here is the painting of these can override what is being painted. I think people who do not paint feel like the end result is what drives artists and that might be true for some but for most of my closer artist friends the true joy is in the process and what is produced is and should be lovely but it is the process that drives me, and this painting is the perfect example.
