This is an Original Oil Painting,
This painting was one I did last winter and it took me quite a long time to come off on this picture as white. In person the snowflakes are layered on each other and there is a feeling of a hillside behind the figure. It is such an amazing thing to paint snow. There is usually an illustrative narrative in these pieces and that makes sense to me. I have decided that almost all of my work is somewhat of a narrative of my life because how can it not be? I can go on and on about snow but I truly think it is the one thing that gets me through the gray days of wintertime. And then snow just creates these splashes of color that almost glow. This piece I really love. It is a statement piece but in such a subtle way. I live in Virginia. There is more snow here than in Louisiana where I grew up but not enough to feel its wrath, just enough to justify hot chocolate, snuggling with a book and the dogs while the fire is going. I thin it is safe to say I glorify it, but why not. Bring on the snow.
