Maple Floater Frame

This piece is painted from a drawing done on site at the waterfall sitting in the back of my car on a rainy afternoon in the summer. I don't do a lot of pure plein air work (working on site, outdoors) right now, but do a lot of on site laying out and beginning a piece and then finishing the work in my studio. My goal in any work is capturing the feel of a place and I feel free to make colors more or less vivid depending on what I think will make the painting the strongest. Nothing is quite as special as sitting, looking at the waterfall at Nimrod Hall, but this painting can take me there.
