Maple Shadow Frame 

I painted this when they were building the new VMFA on The Boulevard back when I lived right down the block. I kept it and thought I always would but I csn’t. I can’t keep all this! 

I love this piece. What used to be Benedictine and the house far right where I took my first class at vmfa studio school. It's saturated with meaning for me. I had no dog then. 3 baby children and some cats. I guess rhat’s a cement mixer. I just always felt this was a big deal for Richmond. And me. Because i’m a vmfa girl. Taught there for a decade and haunted the galleries even before their glam up would just swoon at Diebenkorn and the most perfect landscape ever or Vuillard. 

Am I monologuing? Yes.
