This piece went through so many color evolutions that it is literally heavier than most of my work. Painted at the end of the Flower series and before the beach ones, its name is from Air because after it was finished it felt like looking from a plane, but it was not approached with that in mind. It is fairly terrible to try and give abstract paintings any kind of name, just in general. This piece was once primarily pink and then almost totally green. I can't explain why I kept working on it, but the reason is until it looks right to the painter, work has to continue. I had some times with this one where I really was not sure if I was going to pull it off and now- I love it. The trials of the layers make it that much richer despite it being a long and arduous process. I framed this piece specifically. I wanted a thick, fairly traditional, but floating frame (that shows all edges) to show it off to the best advantage and love the finished product- the perfect combo of chaos and quiet. This work is not framed but gallery wrapped so can hang without one.
