Oil on Linen

Maple/Oak Shadow Frame

This is an original oil painting.

I have a small series of these abstracted flowers that I did this summer. It is a flower painting abstract that is mostly a colorist painting. I call this one picket fences because the white accents in the left corner looks like that to me. Naming paintings, in general, is not my favorite thing but I have learned to listen to my brain when it sends me one then I know it. Did that make sense?

They probably look like I did it in an afternoon but they take longer than most any work I have ever done! The key is I have to dry between layers to get the vivid colors I want. I use a brush, a palette knife, my hands and anything I can use to make the paint sit on the canvas the way I want it! I use a to of texture in my in my work and the direction of a swipe of paint can change the whole thing.

These paintings are amazing in their ability to change a room totally. I have hung them all around my house just out of curiosity and they just make a statement.
