My pure abstracts are not abstracted recognizable objects but paintings that are derived from color, shape form and line. It is harder than it looks to simply create an appealing painting from nothing but elements with no guidance from anything but instinct. Another angle of my work that is harder to see online is that I use the paint as almost a molding tool in many cases, so the paint handling (the technical term) is also an element in the work. Being a colorist at heart, the main drive for these works are color on color creating something pleasing to my eye. I have a more decorative frame on this painting and have had it hanging in my house and love the contrast of the modern and traditional. This painting is unusual in that the paint is not thickly applied all over but just in certain areas.
