All these works are from a series I have been doing from a recent snow ski trip. It is an homage to my general love of snow and winter when it snows. The light hits different in the snow and that is true day or night.
This piece is a shameless piece of exaggerated genre painting trying to capture innocence, a moment in time, a simple evening, and all the feel goods about being somewhere special with your family. I am so happy with this piece and its narrative. I love to peep into a scene like this and let the gestures of the figures talk for me. Narrative paintings are something I do occasionally and it is the same principle of reading a good book. You get invested, you create story lines for the people you paint and then after some time it is completed. That might be an analogy just for me, but it is pretty accurate.
