Maple Shadow Frame

The painting is one that I did of the way the light shifts so dramatically at the end of the winter day no matter here you might be skiing. It is truly almost like your eyes cannot adjust to the contrast between deep blues, deep violets and then the bright whites and tinted white with warm colors. It is totally magical. I treated her as if she were just off the mountain and having her hot drink and letting her dogs out to bask in the sunshine in that quick time when even on the coldest days you feel that warmth of the sun and it feels like a gift. The bigger dog is based on my friends dog who is a Great Pyrenees, He is the sweetest dog and I love him in this.

The title is based on the word Sonnenwärme. It is a word for the heat of the sun that you can feel even in the cold weather. The people who live in serious cold weather areas always have great words like that!
