This piece is one of a series of scarf and wind paintings I began after a trip to Utah last December. She is the laundress, but dressed for the colder weather and I think, feels good to be outdoors and in the cold under her own conditions. Inspired a great deal by a trip to ski in Park City, Utah, the colors of the snow filled mountaintops sent me on a long tear of artwork devoted to all that is great about winter. Her scarf goes from red and white to multi-color depending on nothing but my mood. What I love in this series is the sense of cold with the warmth of the light coming through creating an unexpected warmth to the overall work.

This painting is photographing dark but in person is much brighter The frame has the painting floating, so all edges are showing.
