When I first start to paint when I first get to Nimrod, I will pick a subject and paint it over and over to reacquaint myself with my Nimrod Studio, my materials and just get to know my studio again. I accept and bond with the heat, the sound of the fans humming, my music playing and the great turpentine mixed with big spray smells. It all begins what will be the most creative 6-8 weeks of my year and this time the series of director chairs was what I chose to start my summer. They are so fun to paint. Striped. white on white, greens- yellow greens and blue green and of course, shadows, They are simple looking but more complicated to paint that they probably appear. I always taught my students to paint what you see in front of you first and just start. Just starting is the biggest hurdle for any artist. I love these little director chairs.
