Mountain Wall
Mountain Wall
40 x 30
Oil on Canvas
Maple Shadow Frame
This painting inspired another sister painting that my daughter, Sadie, requested for herself. A great compliment for a mom. The work was inspired, as many of them are this past summer, by the great wall of mountain I feel when I am in Bath County for the summers. The atmosphere this summer was maybe more humid than previous summers or maybe it was a veil of smoke from controlled fires, but I would see these large hills, really, and feel like they could be broken down into a singular form. It was not that solid of a thought, it just happened, but the simplicity of the wall of mountain with the treelike was a series that was incredible to paint. This painting is hard to photograph and some of the others are as well. the underpainting is a right pink that shows through the teal colored mountain creating more depth than I can get it to convey. If you like the photo, the painting is much more exciting.
