Maple Shadow Frame

This painting was a request from one of my students at Nimrod to do a demonstration of a nighttime painting. I have always been inspired by the lights coming out of windows right before the sky goes dark and at Nimrod we are outside when that happens so it makes it even more special to me. I have done so many of them and yet every time I am thrilled by the way you can see into the buildings and into the rooms.

The painting does require a direct light to look its best, since the values are dark, but a nice sunlit room in daytime would also work.
