Shadow Frame

This is a painting I did sitting outside my studio, looking out at our various outbuildings. We have a house called a farmette, which means I believe, that at one point it was a small farm. Now it is a 2 acre paradise in the Bon Air area of Richmond, Virginia. We are on a busy street, live 7 minutes from downtown, yet when I am in my studio looking out, there is no way to believe you are anywhere but a farmette, surrounded as I am by a chicken coop, a garden folly, a carriage house, and 2 rickety garages. There is a house directly next door that you can see that is white, and the city lover, previous Fan homeowner, loves the way it peeks out behind on the yellow clapboard and chimneys.
