Shadow Frame

This landscape is a view from across from my studio at Nimrod Hall , looking at Rough Mountain in the distance.  That mountain is literally like a Monet painting in itself as it changes colors constantly. This was a puffy cloud, bright blue sky, perfect Virginia day. The only kind of day I really like to paint, really.  The cedar tree is something that catches my interest every time. This is also a road that the artists walk all the time and it was actually, in this piece, what caught my eye. There is a big sign leaning against the tree asking people to watch for children, and the artists were right behind it talking in their bright clothes. The red roof of the garden shed always seems to sneak in every painting I do of this scene. I have a hard time not putting some kind of red in any painting. I like how this scene conveys serene, simple life.
