This piece and its sister piece, Above Virginia, #2, were both painted from photos I took while taking off for a weekend away this summer out the window of a small plane.  It was very impressive to see the lush quality of greens form the air in the middle of the summertime and although I surely emphasized the red roofs, it just makes for a little slice of Virginia.
